Whisky Cities – Minneapolis/St. Paul

For a couple of years now, the folks at World Whisky Day have been featuring different cities across the globe as “Whisky Capitals” in their weekly newsletter. Many of these are not what you might normally expect as hotbeds of whisky. Finally, we decided to submit our own location to them and it was featured in their Whisky Wednesday newsletter from April 2018. Understandably, the editors trimmed for effective length, but below is the full text of how the Twin Cities, Minneapolis and St. Paul, have become an unexpected must-see for whisky fans. And rest assured, we know there were many places we missed!

World Whisky Day 2018

To celebrate World Whisky Day this year, we decided to go back to some countries we’ve visited before and deepen our explorations of what whisky can be, perhaps in ways we don’t usually feature. Five years of holding these tastings and exploring the world of whisky via social media and in-person has taught us whisky can be so much more than we’d have ever dreamed of when we first began our respective journeys. For the first time ever, Scotchology is absorbing the costs of the featured whiskies so that all proceeds will benefit two local charities.

Scotchology: Year Four

Against all expectation, the end of this past June marks the fourth anniversary of the first time the original group of us got together, before we even called ourselves Scotchology. Before all kinds of hi-jinks, travels, and tastings. And despite the best of intentions to make this an annual sort of thing, it has been two years since the last update. It seems like a long time since June of 2013, when four of us began to regularly meet for the expressed purpose of exploring single malt scotch together. We’d never have dreamed we’d find ourselves where we are now. Wait, where are we?
