SnapShot: Whiskyfabric Whirlwind 2
This series of SnapShot posts derives from whisky exchanges with various folks who are part of what is colloquially known as the Whiskyfabric, a term encompassing the online community of whisky writers, creators, reviewers and enthusiasts on social media. Over the past couple of years, we have exchanged whiskies via mail with a number of these fine people and collected the tastings in a series of posts based on some loose collective logic. This post contains various whiskies from around the world, predominantly Canada, France and Italy. Ever wonder what it’d be like to sit down to taste with us in the moment, with all our bias and palate preferences at the ready?
Guest Post: Bill Feher Visits Whiskey Del Bac
It’s been a couple of years since our last guest blog by Shane Kinloch, but we have another opportunity. Bill Feher, longtime friend of Scotchology, recently traveled to Tuscon, AZ and had a chance to visit Hamilton Distillers, makers of Whiskey Del Bac. He was so enthused upon his return that it felt almost mean for us not to offer a platform to voice his experience. Bill currently resides in Pittsburgh where, beyond sipping whiskey, writing and hiking, he is also an accomplished woodworker. But in the meantime, let’s check out what he thought about his Tuscon odyssey and if he found anything to bring back with him!
Blesséd Heresy: Scotch Lovers in Dublin
At the beginning of August 2019, some of Scotchology went to Dublin for ten days. The following is a collection of notes and pictures of all the distilleries (and one iconic brewery) found around Dublin we visited, plus a bonus, broken out by location. There were only four operating distilleries as recently as a decade ago, but as of June 2019 there are 25 operating distilleries, with several more planned. In fact, all the distilleries in this post are new since Dublin had not contained an operating distillery in 125 years until Teeling opened their site in 2015.
