World Whisky Day 2022

Where can there be hope in our times, if not whisky?

Over the last couple of years, we’ve shifted to hosting our World Whisky Day tastings virtually to accommodate the realities of pandemic to great success. We’ve been able to widen the scope of attendees to across the United States. It is an inherently safer event, since everyone can participate from home and not have to worry about driving anywhere. But we do miss the in-person aspects, and may hesitantly try to find some way to make this year’s event closer to a hybrid model, dependent on location and attendees’ personal comfort level. We’ll let you know how it goes in next year’s post.

Once again, Scotchology will be celebrating World Whisky Day for the ninth year in a row by offering a virtual tasting on September 10, 2022. One of these days, we’ll actually get back to the official World Whisky Day in May but we also face the realities of modern scheduling. Again, we plan to participate in the Drams4Fams initiative that was started by the Edmonton Scotch Club in 2016. Our proceeds (minus some incidental costs) will go to local food charity People and Pets Together, a surrender prevention program. If you’re not able to make our tasting, please consider contributing via our event link HERE and choose the ‘Additional Donation’ option. If you want the whiskey, choose the regular ticket.

Whiskies this year will be from

Australia – Starward Nova
Germany – Eifel Single Malt
India – Rampur Asāva
Ireland – Teeling Blackpitts
Mexico – Abasolo Ancestral Corn
Sweden – High Coast Hav

The World Whisky Day 2021 tasting saw us embark into an exploration of wood, a rewarding study. This year, we are pulling back to the more global nature of World Whisky Day that ignited our desire to first hold a tasting. Some countries we have visited in tastings of the past, some we have not, but all the whiskies will be new to us and hopefully to you. We invite you to pull up a chair at our virtual table with us for our World Whisky Day 2022 tasting, if you’re able, or read about our adventures through the reviews afterwards. Whether you’ve been a part of our tastings before or not, we’d be happy to share our time and spirits with you.
